Your logbook sets out what gets changed and when, by kilometres or by months, whichever comes first. Intervals differ between makes, and diesels carry items petrol cars do not, like a fuel filter and a DPF.
Bring the book to Oxley or Warana. We work to the schedule, ring you before replacing anything outside it, and stamp the book when the job is done.
How to tell when your diesel’s due for a service
Diesels rarely quit without warning. The signs below usually turn up first, and most of them trace back to something on the service schedule that has been left too long. Here is what to watch for:
Sluggish performance
Loss of power shows up under load first: towing, a long hill, or overtaking. A fuel filter past its interval is the usual starting point, because it is a service item that gets skipped. After that, a split intercooler hose or a loose clamp letting boost escape, soot build up in the intake, or injectors no longer spraying evenly.
We road test it, scan for logged faults and check actual boost and fuel pressure before quoting on parts. A filter is a cheap fix. Injectors are not, so we test before we condemn them.
Diesel using more fuel than usual
Work it out before you book: fill to the click, note the odometer, then do the same at the next fill on the same sort of driving. The dash average smooths the problem over.
A blocked air filter, a fuel filter left too long, injectors leaking back, or a turbo not making full boost will all show up as extra fuel. So will a DPF that keeps regenerating, because every regen burns diesel to do it. We check the filters and fuel pressure first, then the DPF, then the injectors. If you want more out of the engine after that, our diesel tuning Brisbane and diesel tuning Sunshine Coast work is a separate job.
Hard starting or rough idle
A diesel that cranks and cranks on a cold morning but starts fine warm usually points at glow plugs or a fuel system losing prime overnight. If it is hard to start hot and cold, check the battery first. Slow cranking on a tired battery reads exactly like a fuel problem.
A rough idle that smooths out once warm often comes back to one injector out of balance with the rest. We measure injector leak back and cranking voltage rather than guess, because replacing a set of injectors on a hunch is an expensive way to be wrong.
What is Logbook Servicing?
Every new vehicle comes with a manufacturer service schedule: a list of what gets checked, changed or replaced at each interval, measured in kilometres or months, whichever falls first. Logbook servicing means working through that list for the interval your vehicle is up to, then recording it in the book.
The intervals are not padding. Engine oil breaks down, fuel filters load up with water and debris, coolant loses its corrosion inhibitors, brake fluid takes on moisture. Miss enough of them and the parts they protect wear out early.
Servicing does not have to be done at a dealer to keep a new vehicle warranty. It has to be done to the schedule, with parts and fluids that meet the manufacturer’s specification, and written up. We stamp the book with the date and kilometres.
Why Choose us for Logbook Servicing?
We are a diesel workshop first. The people doing your logbook service also rebuild injection pumps, test injectors and pull turbos apart, so when something on the checklist looks marginal they know what it turns into.
Both Oxley and Warana take logbook bookings, and same day work is available if you need the vehicle back that afternoon.
Diesel work is what we do
We service and repair diesels all week: injectors, injection pumps, turbos, DPF and EGR work. So while we are under your vehicle for the logbook items, we notice the things that turn into a tow truck later. Weeping injector seals, a turbo with shaft play, coolant creeping past a hose. You get told, and you decide.
You approve extra work before we do it
The logbook items are quoted up front. Anything we find beyond that gets a phone call with the part, the reason and the cost before a spanner touches it. The invoice lists what was replaced and what was only checked.
Warranty stays intact
An independent workshop can do your logbook service without affecting a new car warranty. It has to follow the schedule, use oil and filters that meet the manufacturer’s specification, and be stamped.
What a service covers
Oil and filter, fuel filter and air filter when they fall due, brakes measured rather than glanced at, belts and hoses checked for cracking, fluid levels and condition, and a battery test under load. What your logbook lists for that interval gets done.

What our customers have to say
Book your next logbook service
Bring the logbook if you have it. If it has gone missing, we can work from the manufacturer’s schedule for your model. Our diesel mechanic Brisbane team at Oxley and diesel mechanic Sunshine Coast team at Warana both take logbook bookings, and same day work is available. Call (07) 5619 7869 to book. We are closed Sundays.
Below are the questions we get asked most often about logbook servicing. If yours is not answered there, call the workshop and ask. Someone at the counter can tell you what your vehicle is due for and what it involves.
