Will tuning my Amarok V6 affect its towing or how it drives with a load?
Towing is the main reason owners tune these. The factory overboost function is disabled the moment you plug a trailer in, so the ute feels flatter loaded than it does empty. Our calibration puts mid-range torque back under load, which you notice on hills and overtakes rather than in a peak figure. We stay inside the safe limits of the engine and driveline, so tell us the trailer weight, the tow ball load and whether the ute is auto or manual before we start.
Can you tune and service my VW without affecting the factory ECU or causing reliability issues?
Yes. The tune is written on the factory ECU and verified on our dyno, so it matches your vehicle’s fuelling, boost and operating temperatures instead of a generic file. Because we service these as well as tune them, we check the known weak points at the same time: EGR and intake carbon, DPF loading, and the V6 coolant weep. A tune on a vehicle with a half-blocked DPF or a leaking shut-off valve fixes nothing, so that work comes first.
My Transporter or Crafter only does short city trips and keeps throwing DPF warnings. Can you help?
That is one of the most common VW diesel jobs we do. Short, low-speed trips never let the filter reach the temperature it needs to burn soot off, and EGR carbon makes it worse. We read the soot and ash loading, work out whether it is a driving pattern or an actual fault such as a sensor, an injector or a stuck EGR valve, run a regeneration, decarbonise the intake where it needs it, then tell you what to change so it stops repeating. Either workshop can do it, Oxley or Warana.
Will a tune affect the DPF or EGR on my Volkswagen, and is it road legal in Queensland?
Our standard tunes keep the factory DPF and EGR working, so regeneration and emissions hardware carry on as designed. We do not delete emissions equipment on road-registered vehicles, because that is not legal for street use in Queensland. A well managed calibration usually gives cleaner combustion and fewer regeneration problems, not more. Which Volkswagen models, engines and model years do you actually cover?
We work on the Australian-delivered VW diesel range: the Amarok in 3.0 V6 TDI and 2.0 BiTDI, the 2023-on Ford-platform 3.0 V6, and the Transporter, Caravelle and Crafter 2.0 TDI. What is available depends on the exact ECU and the model year, and two vehicles built in the same year can differ. How long does a Volkswagen tune take, and how does the dyno process work?
Most VW tunes are a single-day job. We read the factory file, develop the calibration, then verify it. Performance work goes on the dyno so we can see power and torque delivery across the whole rev range, watch boost and exhaust temperatures, and check the result repeats on consecutive runs rather than on one good pass. Book ahead at Oxley (Brisbane) or Warana (Sunshine Coast) and in most cases the vehicle goes home the same day.
