4WD & Diesel Suspension

4WD Diesel Suspension Upgrades

Rear end sitting low when she’s loaded? Bottoming out on the corrugations, diving on the brakes, or you just want a better ride off-road? We design, supply and fit matched 4WD suspension at our Oxley and Warana workshops. Coilovers and shocks, lift kits, GVM upgrades, load-rated springs, all set up around how you actually use your ute or wagon.

A factory 4WD or ute is built to a price, and that means a compromise. Bolt on a bull bar, throw in a canister of fuel, drawers, a fridge, the recovery gear, then hook a van on the back, and the standard springs and shocks run out of travel in a hurry. The arse end drops, the headlights end up pointing at the treetops, the shocks fade out on corrugations and the whole rig wallows around. Get the suspension matched properly and you sort the ride height, pull the body back into line, carry the weight you’re actually carrying, and end up with something safer and a fair bit nicer to drive on any surface.

We do it the right way round. First job is working out how the truck gets loaded and where it spends its time. Some are a daily run to work and back. Others are a fully kitted tourer dragging a caravan. Once we know that, we spec the springs, shocks and the rest to suit, which means proper spring rates for your real weight, enough lift to get clearance without wrecking the geometry, and shocks valved to match. We fit coilovers and shock absorbers, two inch lifts right up to the bigger lift kits, body lifts, GVM upgrades, plus load-rated leaf springs and air helpers for utes and vans. And if you’re not chasing an upgrade at all, we repair and replace worn factory gear too.

Everything that goes on is a genuine, quality brand. We fit the suspension gear we trust, not whatever happens to be lowest in the catalogue. Once it’s all bolted up we set the ride height, torque the lot to spec and tell you why a wheel alignment matters next, so the truck tracks straight and you’re not chewing tyres. You’ll get a firm quote up front, worked out for your vehicle and how you run it, before a spanner touches it.

FAQ

4WD suspension FAQs

Do you do lift kits and GVM upgrades?
Yep. We fit two inch lifts, bigger lift kits, body lifts and certified GVM upgrades. A lift gives you clearance and a bit more travel. A GVM upgrade legally raises how much weight you’re allowed to carry. We’ll tell you which one you actually need based on your weight and how you run the truck.
How much lift should I get?
For most touring and work 4WDs, two inches is the sweet spot. You get useful clearance without upsetting the steering and driveline angles. Go bigger and you’re into serious off-road builds, which need more supporting work to do properly. We’ll recommend the right height for your tyres, your load and how you use it.
What is a GVM upgrade and do I need one?
A GVM upgrade legally lifts your gross vehicle mass, so you can carry more weight. Run bars, drawers, a canopy, fuel, water and gear, and a standard ute is often sitting over its plate already. We assess your build and fit a certified upgrade so you stay legal and safe on the road.
Can you set my ute up for towing a caravan?
Yep. We build tow and tour setups with load-rated springs, matched shocks and air helpers, so the rear sits level under the tow ball weight and the whole rig stays stable. It’s set up around your actual loaded weight and your van, not a guess.
Will upgraded suspension ruin the on-road ride?
No. Done properly, it usually improves it. The trick is getting the spring rates right and the shocks valved to your real weight. A kit that’s too stiff rides harsh when empty. Too soft and it sags under load. We spec it to suit, so it’s comfortable on the daily run and stays composed when she’s loaded up.
What brands of suspension do you fit?
We fit genuine, quality suspension from the brands we trust and stand behind, not whatever’s lowest in the catalogue. We’ll match the right springs, shocks and coilovers to your vehicle and budget, and tell you straight what suits.
Do you repair worn suspension as well as upgrade it?
Yep. If you just want it back to how it should be, we replace the worn shocks, tired springs, bushes, ball joints and steering parts with quality gear. We find what’s causing the clunks, the wander or the rough ride, and fix it properly.
Do I need a wheel alignment after a lift?
Yes. Change the ride height and you change the steering and suspension angles, so a wheel alignment after fitting keeps the vehicle tracking straight and saves your tyres. We set the ride height and recommend an alignment as part of the job.
How long does a suspension upgrade take?
A straight lift, or a shock and spring package, is usually a one-day job. GVM upgrades and full tow and tour builds can take a bit longer depending on parts and the certification side. We confirm the timing and a firm quote when you book it in.
