The Holden LG2 is the 3.8 litre Buick-derived V6, a 90 degree pushrod engine with two valves per cylinder and a cast iron block, naturally aspirated with multipoint fuel injection. Go by the engine number, not the badge
LG2 ring sets are split between the early VN and VP engines and the 1993-on build, so the engine number tells you more than the model on the boot lid. A few bearing sets, including some ACL Race sets, also suit the later 3.8 Ecotec LN3 and L67. Treat that as the exception and check the fitment line on each listing before you order.
Timing chain sets and gaskets
The LG2 uses a timing chain, not a belt. Our timing sets run from standard replacement sets to heavier double row chain sets, with tensioners, gears, the front crankshaft seal and the timing case gasket set sold separately.
For head and top end work there are VRS gasket sets, including a multi fit set covering the VN to VR range, plus inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets and rocker cover gaskets in the gaskets and seals range.
Pistons, rings and bearings
Piston and ring sets include a 1mm oversize set, and main and conrod bearing sets come from ACL and Enginetech, with ACL Race sets for harder use and odd main bearing sizes such as the 7/16 set. There are conrods as well.
