Ordering the right size
A piston size describes your bore after machining, not a grade of piston. A block bored 0.50mm over standard takes the 0.50 set, and a bore that only needed a hone takes standard pistons. Several TIK sets here are listed in an oversize only, and the title says which. You can order before the machine work is done and send the numbers later, because nothing ships until we have confirmed the size with you. See the bearing and piston sizes page for what to send.
Rings, pins and liners
Check what is in the box. Most listings are piston sets, a few include rings, the 2TR-FE set includes pins, and the early 2H set comes with liners. Where rings are bought separately, match them to the piston: the TP ring sets for the TD42 family say whether they suit TIK pistons. Petrol V8 sets
On the petrol side there are flat top, D-bowl and dish top sets for Holden V8 builds, including 355 stroker pistons and a low compression 308 set, plus a 351 Cleveland set made to suit a 302 conrod. Crown shape changes the compression ratio, so pick it to suit the heads and the ratio you are building to, and ask us first if you are unsure.

Can I use TIK pistons for a turbo conversion?
TIK lists sets for factory turbo engines such as the TD42T, 1HD-FT and RD28T. If you are adding a turbo to an engine that never had one, such as a 1HZ, talk to us first about pistons made for boost, like the FAST turbo piston sets.
What comes in a TIK piston set?
Pistons, pins and clips for the whole engine. The VK56 set has eight dish top pistons with valve reliefs and a combustion bowl, eight pins and sixteen clips, and starts at $759.00. The boxes don't list rings, so order a ring set to suit.
Can I return pistons if the machinist picks a different size?
Unused pistons in their original packaging can come back within 30 days, with a 15% restocking fee and the return postage at your cost. It is simpler to send us the measured bore first. Nothing ships until we have confirmed the size with you.
