FAST pistons, conrods and crankshafts for building a stronger engine, mostly for Toyota and Nissan four-wheel-drive diesels. The piston sets have ceramic coated crowns and cover the Toyota 1HZ, 1HD, 1KD-FTV, 1VD-FTV, 12HT, 3L and 5L, Nissan’s TD42T, ZD30DI and ZD30 common rail, and the Ford and Mazda 3.2. They suit rebuilds where the engine will run more boost or carry heavy loads.

Turbo piston sets
Most of the piston sets are listed as turbo sets. On an engine that left the factory without a turbo, such as the 1HZ, a turbo piston set is part of doing the conversion properly rather than adding boost to standard pistons. The ceramic coating on the crown is there to help the piston cope with combustion heat. One 1KD-FTV set also has a modified bowl, so check which version you are ordering, and confirm your bore size, as the 5L set is listed at 0.5mm oversize.
Conrods and crankshafts
For the TD42T there is a forged I-beam conrod set with ARP2000 bolts and a 30mm pin, and for the 1VD an H-beam conrod with aftermarket bolts. For petrol builds, FAST forged steel crankshafts are listed for Holden LS strokers, including a 4.1 inch stroke crank with a 24 tooth trigger wheel. A stroker crank changes the piston and rod combination, so plan the whole rotating assembly together. See conrods and crankshafts for other options.
Planning the build
Pistons made for boost are one part of a stronger engine. Head studs, bearings and machine work matter as much, and the fuel and boost settings have to suit the parts, which is where diesel tuning comes in. We do engine rebuilds in-workshop at Oxley and Warana, and ARP head studs are listed for several of the same engines.

What comes in a FAST turbo piston set?
The 1HZ set has six ceramic coated pistons with oil cooled crowns, six piston pins and twelve pin clips, and starts at $965.00, depending on the size.
Are oversize FAST piston sets available?
For some engines. The ceramic coated turbo set for the Toyota 5L and 5L-E is listed in 0.5mm oversize. The size is in the title, so check it against the bore your machinist measured.
