Diesel injectors by vehicle at Willys Workshop

Built tough, built right.

Diesel Injectors by Vehicle

Injectors are matched to the engine, not the badge on the tailgate. The same ute can run two or three different injectors across its build life, and the wrong one will not code to the ECU. Pick your make, find your build, and you land on the injectors that actually suit it.

Choose your make

If you already know your code, go straight to your make. If you do not, the section below walks through the four things that decide the part. Most owners do not know their code, and it takes about two minutes to find.

How to work out which injectors you need

Four things decide the injector: the model, the build date, the engine, and on some vehicles whether it left the factory with a DPF. Get any one of them wrong and the part will not suit.

1

Build date, off the compliance plate

The compliance or build plate sits under the bonnet or on the driver’s door jamb and carries the month and year the vehicle was built. Build date beats model year every time, because manufacturers change parts mid-year. A Hilux N70 sold as a 2009 can take either the early or the late injector depending on which side of the change it was built.

2

The code on the injector itself

A lot of Toyota injectors carry a code on the injector body, and that code is what the replacement is ordered by. On the Hilux N70 and the 3.0L Prado they are listed here as Code 11, Code 13 and Code 18. A clear photo of the top of one injector usually settles it on its own.

3

DPF or no DPF

On the Isuzu D-Max, the Holden Colorado and the 200 Series LandCruiser the injector changed when the diesel particulate filter arrived. Look for the filter in the exhaust ahead of the muffler, or think back to whether the dash has ever run a regeneration message.

4

Engine code, when the same engine went in several bodies

Where one engine was shared across models, the engine code is the shortest path. A 4JJ1 is a 4JJ1 whether it sits in a D-Max, a Colorado or a Rodeo. If that is what you have written down, start here.

Still not certain

Send your rego or VIN and we will confirm the exact injector against the build before you buy. Injectors are coded to the engine and cannot go back once they have been fitted, so it is worth the five minutes. Email sales@willysworkshop.com.au, call (07) 3377 3421 in Brisbane or (07) 5619 7869 on the Sunshine Coast, or use the injector testing and cleaning service if you want them checked before you replace anything.

Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series

Toyota

Nissan Navara NP300

Nissan

Ford Ranger

Ford

The Ranger and the Mazda BT-50 shared a platform for years, so most of these injectors suit both. Engine size is the first thing to pin down, then whether the vehicle has a DPF.

Mazda BT-50

Mazda

BT-50 injectors follow the Ranger for the UN, UP and UR, then follow the Isuzu D-Max once the TF arrived in 2020.

Isuzu D-Max

Isuzu

Holden Colorado

Holden

Dodge Ram 2500

Dodge Ram and Cummins

Cummins injectors are chosen twice over: first by year range and pump type, then by what you want the engine to do. A stock replacement, a reman set and a staged performance set can all fit the same engine. Work out the year range first, then tell us the power goal and what the truck tows.

Questions we get most

Can I fit injectors myself?

Mechanically it is a workshop job on most common-rail engines, and on many vehicles the new injectors have to be coded to the ECU before the engine will run properly. If you are supplying to your own mechanic, make sure they have the scan tool to write the codes.

Do I have to replace all of them?

On a high-kilometre engine it is usually better to do the set so they are balanced. One failed injector on an otherwise tired set tends to be followed by the next one. We will give you a straight answer based on your symptoms and the kilometres.

New or reman?

New gives the longest service life and is the pick for a hard-worked or high-kilometre engine. Quality reman injectors are tested to specification and make sense on plenty of builds. Both are available across most of the range above.

What if I order the wrong ones?

Injectors are coded to the engine and cannot come back once they have been fitted, which is exactly why we ask for a rego or VIN before anything ships. Send it through and we confirm the part manually.
