2H rebuild kits: order to measured sizes
These engines are old enough that most are on their second or third life, so machined oversizes are the norm rather than the exception. The late 2H rebuild kit (85 to 90) comes with pistons, rings, bearings and a full gasket set, with all three sizes selectable. Order to your measured sizes. On a 2H, assuming standard is usually wrong.
You can place the order before the machinist is done. Nothing ships until we have confirmed the sizes with you, and a photo of the machine shop docket is the fastest way to get them to us. The bearing and piston sizes page explains what the numbers mean.
Early and late 2H, and the parts shared with the 12HT
Several listings are split into early and late 2H, including the full gasket sets, thrust washers and oil cooler parts, so check which version you have before ordering. Many bottom-end and valvetrain parts are shared with the turbo 12HT: bearing sets, pushrods, solid lifters and head bolt sets among them, which is why both codes appear in the titles. If the engine number does not settle it, send us a photo of the old part.
Exhausts and extractors for the HJ47, HJ60 and HJ75
Inside-chassis 2H extractors are listed for the HJ47, HJ60 and HJ75, along with extractor gaskets and Manta 2.5in systems for the HJ75 Troop Carrier and ute in aluminised and stainless. 2H rebuild FAQs
What is in a 2H engine rebuild kit?
A set of pistons and rings, the main and conrod bearings, and a full gasket set. All three sizes are selectable, so the kit can be matched to a block that has been bored and a crank that has been ground. Send us the machine shop figures and we confirm the kit before it ships.
Do 2H parts fit a 12HT?
Some do. Bearing sets, pushrods, lifters, head bolts and several cooling parts are listed for both engines. Pistons, gasket sets and some conrod bearing sets are specific to one or the other, so go by the engine code in the listing title, not the family resemblance.
Are 2H head bolts sold as a set?
The aftermarket head bolt set for the 2H and 12HT has 26 pieces and is $169.00.
Is there a camshaft for the 2H?
Yes. A steel camshaft for the 2H is listed at $365.00.
