The 12HT is Toyota’s 4.0-litre turbocharged inline-six diesel, fitted to the LandCruiser 60 Series (HJ61). Most 12HT owners come here for a rebuild: a complete kit, the pistons, rings and bearings that go into one, and the gaskets, valvetrain and oil pump parts to finish the job. Many parts are shared with the 2H.

A kit, or the parts one at a time
We list a complete 12HT engine rebuild kit, and the parts that go into a rebuild are also listed on their own: ring sets, main and conrod bearing sets, thrust washers, pin bushes, head bolt sets and gaskets. Oversize ring sets and undersize conrod bearings are listed too, so if the block has been machined, order to the measured size. Send us the machine shop figures and your engine number and we will confirm before you fit anything.
Conrod bearings: check the tang
12HT conrod bearing sets are listed by size and also by the side of the locating tang or notch, so look at the old shells before you order. The bearing and piston sizes page explains undersize and oversize, and a photo of the machinist's docket is the quickest way to send the figures. Nothing ships until the sizes are confirmed.
12HT pistons
Piston sets for the 12HT include a FAST ceramic coated turbo piston set and a TIK set. Tell us what the build is for and we will confirm which set suits. If the engine is coming apart because of heat or a turbo failure, sort that cause as well, and see turbo repair and replacement if the turbo needs attention.
Valvetrain, oil pump and cooling parts

Is there a complete 12HT rebuild kit?
Yes. An engine rebuild kit for the 12HT is listed, and every part that goes into one is also sold separately if you only need the bottom end or a set of rings. Send the machine shop sizes and engine number and we will check the kit against them.
Do 2H pistons fit a 12HT?
No. The 12HT is the turbo engine and takes its own pistons, including the ceramic coated FAST turbo set listed here. Bearing sets, pushrods, lifters and head bolts are shared between the two, and the listing title names both engines when that is the case.
