Most of the 70 Series exhausts here are for the 79 ute. Manta lists kits for the 4.5L V8 (VDJ79), the 1HZ (HZJ79), the 1HD (HDJ79) and the 2.8L four-cylinder (GDJ79), along with kits for the 76 wagon and the 78 troop carrier. Single cab and dual cab 79s take different kits, so check the cab before you order.
Pipe sizes run from 2.5 to 4 inch. The VDJ79 and GDJ79 also have twin 3 inch kits, and the VDJ79 has twin 4 inch. Turbo-back kits come with or without a cat, and there are DPF-back kits, extractors and dump pipes in aluminised or stainless steel.
If your vehicle was built with a DPF, the filter has to stay fitted and working on public roads, so choose a DPF-back system or a turbo-back that keeps it. Kits listed without a cat are made for off-road and competition vehicles. DPF laws in Australia sets out the rules.
