The Ford WE is a turbocharged 2953 cc inline four with twin overhead camshafts and common rail direct injection. Ford and Mazda ran it from 2006 to 2011 in the Ranger PJ and PK and the BT-50 UN. It shares the 93 mm bore of the 2.5 litre WL but runs a longer stroke. Our WE list runs to 7 parts, all rebuild and driveline hardware.
Timing belt kits
The timing belt set is catalogued for the WE, the WEAT and the 2.5 litre WL-C. The WE turns its camshafts on a toothed belt, not a chain. Replace the tensioner and idlers while the front cover is off. Parts filed under the WEAT code cover the same 2953 cc engine and sit on the WEAT page.
Rebuild kits, rings and bearings
An engine rebuild kit is listed for the WE common rail. An NPR ring set covers the 3.0 litre. A thrust washer set is filed across the WL, WL-C, WE-C and WEAT. The WE and the 2.5 litre WL share a lot of bottom end hardware, so read the code stamped on your block before ordering rings.
