The Nissan TD42Ti is the intercooled turbo version of the 4.2 litre TD42 inline six diesel. The TD42 family drives its camshaft and injection pump by gears, so there is no timing belt or chain. Nissan fitted the TD42Ti to the Patrol GU Y61 from 2000, above the earlier TD42T turbo. Only 3 parts carry the TD42Ti tag, and one is cut for the intercooled engine alone.
TD42Ti cooling hose set
The NVP hose set is listed for the intercooled engine only. Plumbing changed with the intercooler, so a kit off the non intercooled TD42T will not follow the same runs. Lay the new hoses against the old ones before fitting, since the set covers the whole engine rather than one line.
TD42Ti head bolts
NVP box one head bolt set for the TD42, TD42T and TD42Ti together. The naturally aspirated TD42 archive lists the same item, filed under the GQ Y60 as well as the GU Y61. Pistons are where the turbo and aspirated engines part company, and none are listed here.
Harmonic balancer for the TD42Ti
Powerbond list a big nose balancer covering the TD42T and TD42Ti. TD42 cranks came with a small nose and a big nose snout, so measure the crank before ordering rather than going by the year.
