The Nissan RD28TI is a 2.8 litre, 2,826 cc inline six diesel with a single overhead cam and 12 valves. It is indirect injection, turbocharged and intercooled. Nissan fitted it to the GU Y61 Patrol from 1997 to 2000. The RD28T of the GQ Y60 is the same 2.8 with a turbo but no intercooler, and the RD28 is naturally aspirated. RD28TI gaskets and head bolts
KP full and VRS gasket sets for the 97 on Y61 and a head bolt set. Also a rocker cover gasket and a Permaseal intake and exhaust manifold gasket. The RD28 alloy head cracks between the valve seats and the pre-chambers. Have it crack tested before the VRS set goes on, and fit new head bolts with it.
Timing belt
The RD28TI runs a timing belt, not a chain. One NVP timing belt set is listed for the 12 valve six.
Pistons, rings and oil pump
Two piston and ring sets, one marked for the intercooled engine, and a YSK oil pump assembly. Both piston sets are 1mm oversize and there is no standard size here, so they suit a block that has already been bored.
