Nissan L28 Engine Parts

The Nissan L28 is a 2.8 litre inline six petrol, 2,753 cc, SOHC with 12 valves. The L28 is naturally aspirated, carburetted as the L28 and injected as the L28E. Nissan built it from 1975 into the mid 1980s. It went into the Patrol MQ and MK 160 series, the 280ZX and the Skyline. The L28 runs a timing chain, not a belt.Stock for the L28 runs to 9 parts.

L28 pistons, rings and bearings

A piston set and a TP ring set, both 1 mm oversize and boxed for the L28 alone. An NDC main bearing set and a 0.75 mm undersize conrod bearing set, both boxed across the L20, L24, L26 and L28. They share crank journals but not bores: the L24 is 2.4 litre on an 83 mm bore against 86 mm. None of these is standard size, so measure bores and journals before ordering.

L28 timing chain guides

Two timing chain guides. One is boxed for the L28 alone, the other across the L24, L28 and the 1.6 litre L16 four. The guide faces are the wear item, so fit them with a new chain.
