The Toyota 5R is a 2.0 litre inline four, an overhead valve pushrod engine with 8 valves, carburetted and naturally aspirated, on an 88mm bore and 82mm stroke. Toyota fitted it from 1968 through the 1970s in the Corona RT series, the Stout and early Hilux RN utes, and kept it in production for forklift use long after the cars were gone. 18 parts for it are listed here.

Main, conrod and camshaft bearings

NDC main bearing sets, including a copper lead set, conrod bearing sets and a camshaft bearing set are the largest group. The 5R needs the cam bearing set because its camshaft runs in the block, not in the head.

Timing chain guides and tensioner

The 5R runs a timing chain, not a belt. The TCD4 and TCD-5 chain guides, a guide damper and a chain tensioner are listed for it.

Ring sets, water pump and extractors

Ring sets from TP and Hastings are listed in 0.75mm and 1mm oversize, so mic the bores before ordering rather than assuming a standard 88mm, many of these engines have been round once already. An NPW water pump, a Manta extractor for the Stout and an extractor gasket for the 4 cylinder petrol are also here.

The rest of our 5R stock

A lower gasket set covers the sump and bottom end seals in a bearing job.
