Injectors: DPF or non-DPF decides it
Check whether your vehicle is DPF or non-DPF before ordering. The injectors are not interchangeable across the range, and it is the single most common ordering mistake on this engine. If you are unsure, send us your build date and VIN and we will confirm the right set.
Injectors are listed as singles and as sets of four, including the 4JJ1-TC injector set and the later 4JJ1-TCX injector set, along with tube seals, inlet O-rings and injector fitting parts. The 4JJ1 injector cost and symptoms guide covers the warning signs.
Rebuild kits, bearings and timing
Full kits with pistons, rings, bearings and gaskets are listed with sizes selectable to suit a machined block: the early 4JJ1 kit and the late 4JJ1 kit with timing. The same parts are also sold on their own, from Yenmak piston and ring sets and main bearing sets to a Victor Reinz head gasket and an OSK timing chain set with gears. Exhausts: match the wheelbase, the body and the DPF
The Manta systems for the 4JJ1 are split by vehicle and wheelbase. The Colorado RC and D-Max have SWB and LWB versions, and the later D-Max and MU-X have DPF and non-DPF versions. Order by build date and body, not the year on the rego papers. On a vehicle built with a DPF the filter has to stay, so a DPF-back system is the road option there. On earlier vehicles, keep the converter if it left the factory with one. Systems listed without a cat are made for off-road and competition vehicles.
4JJ1 FAQs
Will a 4JJ1 injector fit a 4JJ3?
No. The 4JJ3 that replaced the 4JJ1 in 2020 takes its own injectors, and within the 4JJ1 range DPF and non-DPF vehicles take different ones as well. Order by engine code and build date, or send us the VIN and we will check it.
Does the 4JJ1 run a timing chain or a belt?
A timing chain. OSK timing chain sets with gears, genuine chain tensioners and the timing cover gasket are listed here for when the chain is due or the engine is apart.
Is there a clutch kit for the 4JJ1?
The NPC dual diaphragm button clutch kit is $1,300.00 for the factory flywheel, or $1,750.00 with a solid flywheel included. Both come with a spigot and an aligning tool.
Do you sell 4JJ1 pistons and rings as a set?
Yes. The Yenmak piston and ring set for the Holden and Isuzu 4JJ1 starts at $550.00, depending on the size.
