The Isuzu 4JB1 is a 2.8 litre inline-4 diesel, pushrod OHV with 8 valves. It uses indirect injection through a mechanical distributor pump, not common rail. It is naturally aspirated, with the 4JB1-T the turbo version. The camshaft is gear driven. Isuzu built it from the late 1980s into the 2000s for the TF Rodeo, the NPR truck and the UBS Jackaroo. We hold 9 parts for this engine.
4JB1 main, conrod and camshaft bearings
TDC and NDC main bearing sets, both also boxed for the 3.0 litre common rail 4JJ1. An NDC camshaft bearing set shared with the 4JA1, the 2.5 litre version on the same 93 mm bore with a shorter stroke. The NDC conrod bearing set is marked as not suiting the common rail 4JB1, which turned up in imported light trucks. Confirm yours has the mechanical injection pump before ordering rod bearings. TDC and NDC thrust washer sets are listed too, the TDC set also covering the 3.1 litre 4JG2.
Pistons and head bolts
A TIK piston set boxed for the 4JB1 alone, and an NVP head bolt set shared with the 3.0 litre 4JH1.
