Mitsubishi 4G52 Engine Parts

The Mitsubishi 4G52 is the 2.0 litre Astron, an inline four with a single overhead camshaft, eight valves, a carburettor and twin balance shafts. The 4G52 is naturally aspirated. It sits below the 2.6 litre 4G54, which carries a bigger bore and a longer stroke on the same block design. Mitsubishi ran it through the 1970s and early 1980s in the Galant, Sigma and L200.Stock for the 4G52 runs to 18 parts.

4G52 timing chain components

The 4G52 uses a timing chain, not a belt. Chain tensioners, chain dampers, camshaft and crankshaft timing gears and the two balance shaft sprockets. The sprockets are 90mm and 45mm outside diameter, so measure the old one before ordering a single sprocket.

Main, conrod and balance shaft bearings

NDC and ACL main bearing sets, conrod bearing sets and a balance shaft bearing. Most of these also list the 4G53, 4G54 and the 4D55 and 4D56 diesels, since the bottom end is common across the family.

4G52 pistons and ring sets

JCC piston sets and ring sets, one of them cross listed to the Isuzu G180Z 1.8. Pistons are the one part that does not cross to the 4G54, because the bore is different.
