Toyota 2T Engine Parts

The Toyota 2T is a 1.6 litre inline four of 1,588 cc with a pushrod overhead valve head and two valves per cylinder. It is carburetted and naturally aspirated. Toyota built it from 1970 into the mid 1980s. It went into the Corolla, listed here under the KE70, and the Celica TA. The 3T is the same engine stroked to 1.8 litres. We stock 11 parts for it.

2T pistons and ring sets

An NVP piston set, an NPR ring set boxed for the 2T and 3T, and a ring set at 1mm oversize. The oversize set only suits a bored block, so measure first.

Timing chain tensioners and guide

The 2T uses a timing chain, not a belt. There is a chain guide, an aftermarket tensioner and a genuine Toyota tensioner, all shared with the 3T and the Y series Hiace engines.

Head gasket, bearings and thrust washers

The only head gasket here is a Permaseal for the 2T-GUE, the twin cam DOHC version of this engine. It does not fit the pushrod 2T head, so check which head you have before you order. An NDC main bearing set is listed, and the NDC conrod set is 1mm undersize for a ground crank. The NVP thrust washer set is shared across the Y series and the 2S.
