Nissan Z22 Engine Parts

The Nissan Z22 is a 2.2 litre inline-4 with a single overhead cam and an 8 valve crossflow head, naturally aspirated. It was carburetted as the Z22S or fuel injected as the Z22E. Nissan built it from 1980 to the mid 1980s for the 720 ute and the Bluebird 910. The Z22 runs a timing chain, not a belt.We hold 12 parts for the Z22.

Timing chain, guides and crank gear

Five timing items: a double row 106 link chain, guides and both aftermarket and genuine crank gears. The guides are side specific and the genuine one is the slack side, so check which side you need first.

Z22 pistons and rings

Every piston set listed is 1 mm oversize. That means a rebore from 87 mm standard to 88 mm, so measure the bores first. Hastings and NVP ring sets are listed separately.

Z22 main and conrod bearings

The main and NDC conrod bearing sets are shared with the 2.0 litre Z20 and the 2.4 litre Z24. Those differ from the Z22 by bore and stroke, not bearing size. They also fit the L16, L18 and L20B, since the Z series kept the L bottom end.
