The Holden Z14XEP is the 1.4 litre Twinport four cylinder from GM’s Family 0 line. It displaces 1364 cc with a DOHC 16 valve head. The Z14XEP is naturally aspirated with multipoint injection and runs a timing chain, not a belt. Holden fitted it to the late Barina XC 1.4 from 2004 to 2005. Overseas it also went into the Opel Astra. This page lists 10 parts for the Z14XEP.
Z14XEP timing chain set
The NVP timing chain set is the part most people come here for. A rattle on cold start that fades after a few seconds is the chain and tensioner, not the lifters. Fit the full set rather than the chain alone. A new chain on worn sprockets goes noisy again inside a year.
Head gasket, VRS set and head bolts
Victor Reinz supplies the head gasket, the VRS gasket set and the lower gasket set. The NVP head bolt set belongs in the same order because the bolts are stretch type. The earlier Z14XE in the same Barina XC has the same bore and stroke but no Twinport intake. These listings are for the Z14XEP, so check the code stamped on the block first.
Z14XEP pistons and bearings
A Yenmak piston and ring set covers the bores, and TDC main and conrod bearing sets cover the crank.
The rest of the Z14XEP stock
A rocker cover gasket and an NVP timing cover seal are the last two. The seal is a multi-fit item shared with several other GM and Hyundai engines.
