The Nissan VQ40DE, listed here as the VQ40, is a 4.0 litre 60 degree V6, DOHC with 24 valves, naturally aspirated with multi point fuel injection. It is the long stroke version of the 3.5 litre VQ35DE and shares its 95.5 mm bore. Nissan fitted it to the Pathfinder R51 from 2005 to 2013 and the Navara D40 V6 petrol from 2005.We list 17 parts for the VQ40.
VQ40 timing chain sets
The VQ40 uses a timing chain, not a belt. NVP timing chain sets and a genuine Nissan set are listed. It runs a primary chain and two secondary cam chains, so check the set covers the secondaries and their tensioners.
VQ40 pistons, rings and bearings
TIK piston sets and TP ring sets, the rings boxed for both the VQ35 and VQ40 because the bore is common. NDC copper lead main and conrod bearing sets and a thrust washer set.
Water pump, rocker covers and extractors
An NPW water pump shared with the VQ35DE, genuine left and right rocker covers, and Manta extractors with a matching gasket for the Navara D40. The covers are handed, and Nissan names the banks from the driver’s seat, so left is the passenger side on a right hand drive D40.
