The Nissan SD22 is a 2.2 litre four cylinder diesel, naturally aspirated, with pushrod valvegear and indirect injection. Bore is 83mm on the 100mm stroke shared across the SD family. Nissan built the SD22 from the 1970s and fitted it to the 720 ute here. Our listings are filed under the 720 and D21 Navara categories. Piston and ring sets
NVP piston and ring sets are listed for the SD22, both in 1mm oversize only. The SD20, SD22, SD23 and SD25 share that 100mm stroke and differ by bore. A piston set for one will not fit another. Measure the bores before you order, because 1mm oversize assumes the block has already been through the borer once.
Main bearings and chain guide
An NDC main bearing set covers the SD20, SD22, SD23 and SD25 together. The crank journals are common across the family. The camshaft sits in the block and runs off a timing chain, not a belt. One chain guide is listed here, covering the SD22, SD23 and SD25 plus the TD23, TD25 and H20 petrol.
