The Mazda MA is a 2.0 litre inline four petrol engine. The MA runs a single overhead cam and eight valves, naturally aspirated and carburettor fed. Mazda built it through the 1980s and into the 1990s for the B2000 and Bravo utes, and Ford fitted the same engine to the Courier. Timing components make up 11 of the 17 parts Willys lists under the Mazda MA.
Mazda MA timing chain and chain guides
The MA uses a timing chain, not a belt. Both chains are listed here: a single row 46 link chain and a double row 106 link chain. Genuine guides for the slack and tension sides are on the shelf, along with the tensioner and the oil pump timing gear. Three of those guides carry separate Mazda part numbers, so order by number rather than by side.
Mazda MA piston, ring and bearing sets
Two piston sets and two ring sets sit under the MA, from JCC, NVP and TP. One TP ring set is boxed for the MA and the MA Late together, and an ACL conrod bearing set covers the big ends. Measure the bore before ordering, since these are sized sets rather than one size fits all.
