Suzuki M13A Engine Parts

The Suzuki M13A is a 1.3 litre all alloy inline four, DOHC with 16 valves, naturally aspirated with multi point fuel injection. Suzuki built it from 2000 into the late 2010s for the Jimny SN413 (JB43), the Swift RS413 and the Ignis. It shares its 78 mm bore with the 1.6 litre M16A, which runs a longer stroke.The M13A list runs to 13 parts.

Timing chain, tensioner and chain sets

The M13A uses a timing chain, not a belt. An NVP timing chain set shared with the M16A, a single row chain on its own and a separate chain tensioner. Cold start rattle on these is more often the tensioner than a stretched chain, so replace the tensioner with the chain, not the chain alone.

M13A gasket sets and seals

A genuine full gasket set and a Victor Reinz VRS set. Genuine front crankshaft and rear main seals, an aftermarket rear main seal that also suits the older F and G series Suzuki engines, and genuine valve stem seals sold each.

Pistons and conrod bearings

An NVP piston set listed for the M13A alone, since the M16A’s longer stroke wants its own piston, and a Taiho conrod bearing set.
