The Mercedes M102 is a naturally aspirated petrol inline four with a single overhead cam and eight valves. Mercedes built carburettor and Bosch injected versions between 1980 and 1993 in capacities from 1.8 to 2.3 litres. Fitment covers the W201 190E and the W123 and W124 saloons. Suffix numbers rather than model years decide which of the 3 parts on the M102 page fits.
M102 VRS gasket sets
Two FAI VRS sets are listed, one for the M102.910 and M102.962 and one for the M102.982 and M102.985. Neither set covers the 16 valve 2.3-16, which runs the M102.983 head. There is no timing belt to add to the job, because the M102 turns its camshaft on a chain.
M102 crankshaft thrust washer
One TDC thrust washer bearing is listed for the M102. The same shell suits the OM601, OM603, OM646, OM662, M104 and M111. Crank end float opens up as the thrust faces wear, so measure it before you settle on a size.
