The Mazda LF is the 2.0 litre MZR, a DOHC 16 valve inline four, naturally aspirated and fuel injected, built from 2002. It shares the 87.5 mm bore of the 2.3 litre L3 but runs an 83.1 mm stroke against 94. It went into the Mazda3 BK and BL, the Mazda6 GG and the MX-5 NC, and Ford sold it as the Duratec.Stock for the Mazda LF runs to 15 parts.
LF pistons and ring sets
NVP piston and ring sets and TIK piston sets, both 0.5 mm oversize, and a RIK ring set. The rings are boxed for the LF and L3 together because the bore is common. The pistons are LF only because the shorter stroke needs a different compression height, so do not order a piston set off the L3 listing for this engine.
Head gasket and seals
A KP head gasket, genuine rocker cover gaskets and a gasket set, a genuine rear main seal and an NVP front crankshaft seal. Most are listed across the LF and L3 because they fit both.
Water pump, bearings and harmonic balancer
The LF uses a timing chain, not a belt. An NPW water pump, an NVP conrod bearing set, a TDC main bearing set and a genuine harmonic balancer for the LF-VE.
The rest of our LF stock
A crankshaft friction disc and the crankshaft pulley bolt lock. The LF-DE page holds a couple more listings under the fuller code.
