The Hyundai J3 is a 2.9 litre four cylinder diesel with a DOHC 16 valve head, turbocharged and fed by common rail injection. Hyundai fitted it to the Terracan HP 2.9 CRDi and Kia used the same engine in the Carnival. Every one of the 3 parts under the J3 is a genuine line rather than an aftermarket one.
J3 head gasket
The genuine head gasket is the only sealing item filed under the Hyundai Kia J3. The J3 turns its camshafts on a toothed belt, not a chain. No timing kit is listed under this code. No VRS or full gasket set is listed either, so sump and cover gaskets need sourcing separately.
J3 rear main seal
The genuine rear main seal is catalogued for the 2.9 litre DOHC 16 valve J3. Check the crank flange for a wear groove cut by the old seal before you press the new one in, because a grooved flange will weep again.
The rest of the J3 list
A genuine conrod bearing set covers the J3 and the earlier 2.7 litre J2, which used a mechanical injection pump instead of common rail. A shared conrod set does not mean a shared undersize, so read the size stamped on the shells you take out.
