The Honda H23A is a 2.3 litre DOHC 16 valve inline four from the H series, naturally aspirated with multi point injection. Bore and stroke are 87mm by 95mm, and Honda fitted it to the BB Prelude from 1992 to 1996. The 5 parts listed for the H23A are all rebuild items, with nothing in the way of service or ignition components.
H23A VRS and full gasket sets
Two gasket sets are listed: a VRS set for head off work and a full set that also takes in the bottom end. Work out which one the job needs before ordering, because pulling the sump afterwards means buying gaskets twice.
Piston and ring set
The piston and ring set on this page is a 0.5mm oversize, so the block has to be bored to suit it. Measure the bores first, since a 2.3 that has already been out to 0.5mm once cannot take the same set again.
Timing pulleys for the H23A
Both timing pulleys listed are shared with the 2.2 litre F22A and run on the cam belt, not a chain. The H23A also turns a separate balance shaft belt behind the cam belt, so a kit covering only one belt leaves half the job.
