The Hyundai G4FD is a 1591 cc sixteen valve inline four with twin overhead camshafts. The G4FD is naturally aspirated and runs petrol direct injection, which is what separates it from the port injected 1.6 litre G4FC. Hyundai and Kia ran it from 2010 to 2018. It went into the i30 GD, Elantra MD, Veloster FS and Cerato YD. The G4FD list runs to 5 parts, weighted to bearing sets.
G4FD main, conrod and thrust bearings
Four bearing sets sit under this code. TDC main and conrod sets cover the G4FD alongside the 1396 cc G4FA and the port injected G4FC. An NDC main set is filed across the G4FD, the G4FC, the later G4FG and the turbocharged G4FJ. One shell set covering four Gamma codes means the block stamp matters more than the model year.
G4FD pistons and rings
A Yenmak piston and ring set is listed in 0.5 mm oversize. The G4FD drives its camshafts on a chain rather than a belt, so a rebuild does not force a belt change.
Thrust bearings and the rest of our G4FD stock
A TDC thrust bearing set is also listed, shared with the G4FA, G4FC and G4FJ. Direct injection leaves the intake valves with no fuel wash, so clean the ports while the head is off.
