Suzuki G16A Engine Parts

The Suzuki G16A is a 1.6 litre inline four, SOHC with 8 valves, naturally aspirated, carburetted in the early cars with throttle body injection later. Suzuki built it from 1988 to around 1998. It went into the Vitara, including the five door SV620, with parts here also listed for the Grand Vitara and the Baleno 1.6. There are 20 parts for it on the shelf.

Main and conrod bearings

Main bearing sets and conrod bearing sets from NDC and TDC are the largest group. Most are shared with the G16B, the 16 valve version of the same 1590cc block, so the bottom end parts cross over while the head parts do not.

Gasket set, crank seals and water pump

The G16A runs a timing belt, not a chain, and one belt is listed here. Alongside it sit a KP full gasket set, front crank and rear main seals, and the NPW water pump for the SOHC 8 valve engine.

Ring sets and extractors

Ring sets are listed for the 1.6 SOHC 8V. One also lists the Honda D16A: that is a 75mm bore match, not a listing error, so check the ring widths against your pistons before fitting. Manta extractors and an extractor gasket cover the 1988 to 1996 carburetted Vitara.
