The Mazda FS is a 2.0 litre inline four petrol, DOHC with 16 valves. Naturally aspirated, multipoint injected, 83 mm bore by 92 mm stroke. Mazda built it from 1991 into the mid 2000s as the FS-DE, and as the hotter FS-ZE in the 323 SP20. It went into the 626 GE and 626 GF 2.0, the Premacy and Ford Telstar. 9 parts for it sit on the shelf.

FS water pumps

Two water pumps, one boxed for the FS and an NPW pump for the FS-DE and FS-ZE. The FS runs a timing belt, not a chain, and the pump is driven off that belt behind the timing cover.

Main and conrod bearings, ring set

NDC main and conrod bearing sets, and a TP ring set boxed for the FS-DE, FS-ZE and FP-D. The FP-D is the 1.8 litre, same 83 mm bore with the stroke cut from 92 to 85 mm, so rings and conrod bearings cross over.

FS gasket sets and head bolts

A KP VRS gasket set for engines from March 1997 onward, a KP lower gasket set and a head bolt set boxed for Ford and Mazda. That March 1997 split on the VRS set falls at the GE to GF changeover, so check the build plate on a late GE before you order.

Also on the shelf for the Mazda FS

An NVP front crank seal boxed across the FE, F2, F6 and F8 and several Nissan engines. If yours is the 1.8 FP rather than the 2.0 FS, call Oxley on (07) 3377 3421 or Warana on (07) 5619 7869 with the engine number.
