The Subaru FB25 is a 2.5 litre DOHC 16 valve horizontally opposed four, naturally aspirated and port injected. Subaru introduced it in 2010 as the replacement for the EJ25, with a longer stroke and a narrower bore. It runs in the Forester SJ, the Outback and the Liberty. The FB25 shelf here comes to 5 parts, weighted to timing and head work.
FB25 timing chain and water pump
The FB25 uses a timing chain, not the belt the EJ engines ran. A timing chain set and an NPW water pump are both listed. The pump sits behind the chain cover on this engine, so the two jobs go together.
Head bolts and conrod bearings
A head bolt set covering the FB and EJ range is listed, along with a conrod bearing set shared with the FB20. FB head bolts torque to angle and are a replace on assembly item, so budget for new bolts rather than reusing the originals.
