The Mazda E5 is a 1.5 litre inline four, SOHC with eight valves, naturally aspirated and carburettor fed. It is the larger brother of the 1.3 litre E3 on the same block family. Mazda fitted it to the 323 BD from 1980 and the 323 BF through to 1989, the car sold as the Familia in Japan. Our Mazda E5 stock runs to 20 parts.
E5 timing chain components
The E5 uses a timing chain, not a belt. Chain guides including a genuine guide, tensioners, chain dampers, and crankshaft and camshaft timing gears, most of them shared with the TC and UC engines from the B-Series utes.
E5 pistons and ring sets
JCC piston sets and ring sets from TP and NVP in standard and 1mm oversize, including a chrome faced set. Bearings and timing gears are shared with the E3, but pistons and rings are not because the E5 carries a bigger bore, so check the E5 stamp on the block before ordering a piston set.
Head gaskets and bearings
Head gaskets, NDC main and conrod bearing sets and thrust washers, with one ACL set among them.
