The Holden C18SEL is an Opel built 1.8 litre inline four with DOHC and 16 valves. The C18SEL is naturally aspirated with multipoint fuel injection. It is a mid 1990s GM Family II engine. Holden fitted it to the Astra TR from 1996 to August 1998 alongside the 2.0 litre X20XEV.The C18SEL list runs to 10 parts.

C18SEL conrod bearings

Four conrod bearing sets: NVP, TDC and two NDC. One NDC set is 0.5mm undersize for a ground crank, the other three are standard. Measure the journals before you pick one. The X18XE of the later TS Astra is the same 1.8 built to Euro 2. Several boxes carry both codes.

Extractors for the Astra TR

Two Manta extractor sets for the Astra TR 1.8 and 2.0, one bare and one ceramic coated in silver. They suit the C18SEL and the X20XEV Ecotec only. The X and Z prefixed engines of the TS Astra are excluded, so check the code stamped on the block.

Oil pump, head bolts and VRS gasket set

An NVP oil pump assembly boxed for the C18SEL, the X20XEV and the 2.0 litre 8 valve C20NE. An NVP head bolt set that also covers the 2.2 litre C22SEL. A FAI VRS gasket set for the C18SEL and X18XE. The C18SEL runs a timing belt, not a chain.

The rest of the C18SEL stock

An NVP camshaft seal, catalogued for the X18XE and two Hyundai codes as well. It is the usual add on while the belt is off.
