The Mazda BP is a 1.8 litre inline four, fuel injected and naturally aspirated in the versions sold here, fitted to the MX-5 NA and NB and the 323 Astina BA from 1994. It came with both single and twin overhead cam 16 valve heads, and the turbocharged BPT was used elsewhere in the range. This page lists 21 parts for the Mazda BP.
Timing belts and tensioners
The BP runs a timing belt, not a chain. Belts are listed to cover the BP, BPT, B6 and B6T, and a belt tensioner suits the SOHC engines. A lot of these numbers carry the B6 as well, which is the 1.6 litre version of the same family, so read the full title before you order.
Gasket sets, bearings and pistons
Lower gasket sets and VRS sets are listed for both head types. Confirm whether yours is the SOHC 16 valve or the DOHC head before you order a set, because the BP was built both ways and the sets do not swap. Main and conrod bearing sets and thrust washers are stocked. Piston sets come in 0.5mm oversize and ring sets in 1mm.
Oil pump and water pump
A complete oil pump suits the BP, B3 and B6, and the O-ring for the pick up is listed on its own. The water pump covers the 1.6 and 1.8 litre engines.
