The Volkswagen BJL is a 2.5 litre inline five turbo diesel of 2461cc. It uses a single overhead camshaft with two valves per cylinder and pump injector direct injection rather than common rail. Volkswagen fitted it to the Crafter van from 2006, alongside the higher output BJM and the later CECA. Count the BJL listing and you get 4 parts, three gasket sets and one oversize piston kit.

Head gasket and gasket sets

Victor Reinz covers the gasket side of this page. There is a 1.61mm head gasket, a VRS set listed without a head gasket and a lower set listed without a rear main seal. All three are listed for the BJL, BJM and CECA together. Check the grade marked on the old head gasket before ordering, because the 2.5 TDI five was built in more than one thickness.

Pistons and rings

A Yenmak piston and ring set is listed for the BJL in 0.5mm oversize, which suits a block that has already been bored. No standard size set is listed at the moment, so measure the bores before you commit to the oversize kit.

The rest of the BJL listing

Beyond the two gasket sets, the head gasket and the piston kit, nothing else is filed under the BJL. The lower set comes without a rear main seal, so order that separately if the crank is coming out.
