The Toyota 5M is a 2.8 litre inline-6 from the M family, naturally aspirated on an 83mm bore and 85mm stroke, built from 1980 to 1988. The 5M-E carries a SOHC 12-valve head with EFI, and the 5M-GE a DOHC head by Yamaha, still 12 valves and EFI. It went into the Crown MS112, the Cressida MX73 and the Supra MA61. We keep 17 parts for it in stock.
5M pistons and ring sets
Piston sets are listed separately for the 5M-E (JCC) and the 5M-GE (NVP), so check which head is on the engine before ordering. TP ring sets cover the 5M through to the 7M-GE and 7M-GTE, since all of them share the 83mm bore and the 7M gets its 3.0 litres from a longer 91mm stroke.
5M main, conrod and camshaft bearings
NDC main and conrod bearing sets are listed for the 5M and 7M, with NDC and ACL camshaft bearing sets shared with the 2.3 litre 2M and 2.6 litre 4M sixes.
5M timing chain guide and extractors
The 5M uses a timing chain, not a belt, and a chain guide shared with the 4M is listed. Manta extractors are listed for the 5M six in the Cressida and Supra, along with the matching extractor gasket.
