The Mitsubishi 4G61 is a 1.6 litre DOHC 16 valve inline four from the Sirius family. It ran multi point injection, naturally aspirated in most cars and turbocharged as the 4G61T. Australia got it in the CB Lancer from 1990 to 1992, and the site files these listings under Mitsubishi’s Lancer and Evo grouping. Willys Workshop lists 5 parts for the 4G61, split between ring sets and gaskets.
VRS and rocker cover gaskets
Two gasket parts are listed: a KP VRS set and a rocker cover gasket. The rocker cover gasket also covers the 2.0 litre 4G63 and Hyundai’s licence built Sirius engines, so confirm the code stamped on your block before ordering.
Piston ring sets
Both ring sets are listed for the 4G61 on its own, one of them a 1mm oversize. Unlike the rest of the Sirius family the 4G61 has no balance shafts, so a rebuild kit pulled off a 4G63 listing carries parts you will not use.
What else is listed under the 4G61
The 4G61 runs a timing belt, not a chain. The only timing part here is a genuine tensioner pulley shared with several other Mitsubishi fours.
