Toyota 2R Engine Parts

The Toyota 2R is a 1.5 litre pushrod inline four with eight overhead valves, carburetted and naturally aspirated. It has a 78 mm bore and stroke, and Toyota built it from 1964 into the early 1970s. It was the engine of the early Corona RT series, the RT40 in particular. The 2R drives its camshaft by timing gears, not a belt or chain. We hold 10 parts for this engine.

2R main and conrod bearings

Six bearing sets are listed: two main sets and four conrod sets, with NDC and ACL options among them. One main set and two conrod sets also fit the 4R and 12R, the 1.6 versions of this block. The other main set and the NDC and ACL conrod sets cross to the bigger R engines: the 2.0 21R, the 2.2 20R and the 2.4 22R.

2R ring sets

Two ring sets are listed under part numbers A1194 and GR1452, so check the bore size before you pick one. Do not use 12R rings on a 2R. The 12R was bored to 80.5 mm against 78 mm here, so pistons and rings do not cross even though the bearings do.

2R water pump

One NPW water pump is listed and it fits the 12R as well.
