The Ford 188 is a 188ci overhead valve six cylinder, 3.1 litres, carburettor fed and naturally aspirated. Ford Australia fitted it to the Falcon from the XR through to the XY. It is one of the pre crossflow sixes. At 3.1 litres it sits under the 3.3 litre 200, the 3.6 litre 221 and the 4.1 litre 250. 6 parts are listed for it.
188 main and conrod bearings
Bearings are the bulk of the listing. There is a main bearing set for the 188, 200 and 221. An ACL conrod bearing set covers the 170 up to the 250. The ACL RACE conrod set runs to the EA to EL 3.9 and 4.0 sixes as well. One set covering that many engines is not a misprint, because the journal sizes did not change across the family.
188 gasket sets
A Permaseal lower gasket set is listed for the 188 and the 221. There is also an exhaust manifold gasket for the 12 valve non crossflow sixes, from the 144 up to the 250.
