Match the code, year and emissions spec
The same engine can take a different injector depending on build date and emissions spec. On the N70 Hilux and the Prado, 1KD-FTV injectors are listed by code (11, 13 and 18) and year. The 1VD-FTV injector is listed for the late DPF engine in the 79 and 200 Series, built from 08/2015. Isuzu 4JJ1 injectors are split into 4JJ1-TC, 4JJ1-TCX, DPF and non-DPF versions, and the YD25 high pressure pump comes in Euro 3 and Euro 4 versions.
One injector or the full set
Injectors in a high-kilometre engine have done the same work, so when one fails the rest are close behind and a set is usually the better buy. After an early failure on a younger engine, one injector can be enough. Testing tells you which, and our injector testing and cleaning service shows how each injector is performing. New injectors on these engines also need their correction codes entered into the ECU when they are fitted.
Pumps and the rest of the fuel system
High pressure pumps are listed for the 1KD in the Hilux and Prado, the 4JJ1 in the D-Max and Rodeo, and the YD25 in the Navara and Pathfinder. A pump that has come apart can send metal through the rail and injectors, so talk to us before fitting only a pump after a failure. Which injector code does my Hilux need?
It depends on the build date. The N70 Hilux 1KD-FTV injectors here are listed as Code 11 and Code 13 for 2006 to 2009, and Code 18 for 2009 to 2015. Order the code that matches your engine, and if you are not sure, send us the VIN and we will confirm it.
Can I buy one Denso injector or do I need a set?
Both are listed. The Hilux N70 Code 18 injector is $545.00 on its own and $2,140.00 as a set of four. Replacing the full set keeps all four cylinders on injectors of the same age.
