It has become well known that the 300 Series Landcruiser loses considerable power when the going gets tough, especially during towing in hot conditions.
The two small side-mounted factory heat exchangers behind the bumper, receive poor airflow. In hot conditions, they struggle to cool down the coolant that feeds into the water-to-air intercooler. This results in higher intake temperatures and power loss.

HPD’s Heat Exchanger is positioned behind the grille to receive good airflow to effectively reduce the temperature of the coolant that passes through the water-to-air intercooler.
Designed to suit models built from October 2025 onwards. This unit, featuring Bar & Plate core and end tanks machined from billet alloy has been proven to reduce coolant temperatures by 20°C. We observed negligible loss of power in hot conditions during testing vehicle, on both dyno and road testing.
The vehicle owner reports that after the HPD Heat Exchanger, Transcooler and Catch Can was fitted, there was not even a hint of power loss towing his caravan up Accommodation Hill, Sturt Highway South Australia, where on a previous trip he experienced noticeable power loss.

With our dealer network Australia wide, we can arrange your kit to be installed by a qualified technician. Our front mounted intercoolers don’t suffer from heat soak from high under bonnet temperatures like some top mounted intercoolers or water to air intercoolers can, which at low speed – hard slogging can increase inlet temperatures.
HPD intercooler kits suit all the leading aftermarket turbo kits that don’t have an option for intercooling, allowing you to increase the performance, reliability and fuel efficiency of your 4WD.

Warranty: 12 months from Willys Workshop
Sold and warranted by Willys Workshop. Parts carry our 12-month warranty against defects, from the date of purchase or installation (whichever is later), subject to any manufacturer terms and fair wear and tear (Terms & Conditions, clause 7.1(b)). This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.
- 30-day change-of-mind returns on eligible items: unused, uninstalled and in the original packaging, with a Return Authorisation from us first. A 15% restocking fee applies and return postage is at your cost.
- Wrong fit: if a part covered by our Fitment Guarantee doesn’t fit, we pay the return freight both ways and there’s no restocking fee.
- Special-order or imported-to-order items, electrical parts, ECUs and tuners once registered, connected or flashed, parts that have been fitted or modified, and clearance items can’t be returned for change of mind. Your rights for faulty goods still apply.
- Refunds are made to your original payment method within 14 business days of us receiving and inspecting the return.
