What is a Nissan Navara D40?

D40 is the model code for the second-generation Navara, sold in Australia from 2005 to 2015 with the 2.5L YD25DDTi common-rail diesel, also shared with the R51 Pathfinder. It was replaced by the current NP300/D23 Navara in 2015.

D40 or NP300 Navara — which one do I have?

If your Navara was built 2005-2015 with the 2.5L YD25DDTi engine, it’s a D40. If it’s a 2015-onward model with the 2.3L twin-turbo YS23DDTT, it’s the current NP300 (D23). Tell us your build year and we’ll confirm which generation and engine you have.

What is the common timing issue with the D40 Navara’s YD25 engine?
