Mitsubishi Triton MQ/MR Diesel Tuning & Servicing

The current MQ and MR Triton (2015 onward) run Mitsubishi’s 2.4-litre 4N15 common-rail turbo-diesel, rated from the factory at around 133kW and 430Nm (MR is the 2018/2019+ facelift, same engine family). It’s a capable platform that makes its torque in a fairly narrow band — exactly where a custom tune makes the biggest difference.

We tune every MQ/MR Triton in-house on the factory ECU, on our own dyno, developed for your exact truck rather than a generic off-the-shelf file.

The 4N15 is sensitive to boost and MAF accuracy, and short-trip running can lead to incomplete DPF regeneration and oil dilution. We tune and service with those traits front of mind.

What is a Mitsubishi Triton MQ or MR?

MQ and MR are the model codes for the current, fourth-generation Triton, on sale in Australia since 2015 with the 2.4L 4N15 common-rail diesel (MR is the 2018/2019+ facelift, same engine). It replaced the ML/MN Triton and its 2.5L 4D56.

MQ/MR or ML/MN Triton — which one do I have?

If your Triton is a 2015-onward model with the 2.4L 4N15 engine, it’s an MQ or MR. If it was built 2006-2015 with the 2.5L 4D56, it’s an ML or MN. Tell us your build year and we’ll confirm which generation and engine you have.

Why does my MQ/MR Triton’s DPF keep clogging?

The 4N15’s DPF needs a proper regeneration cycle to clear, which mostly happens on longer drives at highway speed. Trucks doing mainly short trips can struggle to complete regeneration, leading to DPF warnings. We diagnose and service this regularly.

What performance gains can I expect from an MQ/MR Triton tune?

Gains vary by year, spec and supporting hardware, so we don’t quote fixed numbers up front. Every result is measured on our dyno and developed specifically for your Triton, with the biggest real-world benefit usually being stronger low and mid-range torque when towing or loaded.

Will tuning my MQ/MR Triton affect the warranty?

Modifying the factory tune can affect aspects of your new-car warranty, particularly for driveline claims. If your Triton is still under warranty we’ll walk you through the considerations before any work starts.
