LDV Diesel

LDV T60 Tuning & Diesel Servicing

The LDV T60 has become one of the most popular value dual-cab utes on Australian roads, and at Willy’s Workshop we work on them constantly across our Oxley (Brisbane) and Warana (Sunshine Coast) workshops. Earlier T60s ran a 2.8-litre SAIC single-turbo diesel rated around 130kW and 400Nm, while the current T60 Max stepped up to a 2.0-litre BiTurbo four-cylinder producing 160kW and 500Nm, backed by a common-rail fuel system and an eight-speed automatic. Both engines respond well to a properly developed tune when it is done with the platform’s real strengths and weaknesses in mind.

Like every modern diesel ute, the T60 carries a full emissions suite: DPF, EGR and exhaust after-treatment. These systems keep the truck compliant but they are also where most owner complaints originate, particularly soot loading in the EGR and intake, blocked DPFs from short-trip city driving, and water-in-fuel warnings. The 2.0 BiTurbo’s twin-charger arrangement adds intercooler and boost-control hardware that needs to be healthy before any performance work is considered. We treat the engine as a complete system rather than chasing a single number.

Our approach is custom, in-house tuning on the factory ECU, developed and dyno-verified on our own equipment. We do not flash generic off-the-shelf files. Every T60 we tune is data-logged, calibrated to its actual engine variant and condition, and validated under load so the result is reliable drivability and torque you can use towing or loaded, not a peaky bench figure.

Engines We Tune

LDV T60 diesel engines we tune

2.8L SAIC single-turbo diesel — earlier T60
130 kW / 400 Nm
Four-cylinder turbo-diesel in earlier T60s; capable workhorse but prone to EGR and intake soot loading and DPF blockage on short city trips.
2.0L BiTurbo diesel (SAIC) — T60 Max
160 kW / 500 Nm
Twin-charger four-cylinder with eight-speed auto; strong torque from low rpm, but the twin-charge transition, intercooler piping and cold-start shift calibration need attention before performance work.
Tuning & Servicing

Why choose Willy’s for your LDV T60

Performance Tuning

Custom in-house ECU tuning for the LDV T60, developed and dyno-verified on our own equipment for both the 2.8 turbo-diesel and 2.0 BiTurbo.

  • Custom calibration on the factory ECU, tuned to your specific T60 engine variant (2.8 single-turbo or 2.0 BiTurbo) rather than a generic file.
  • Every tune is data-logged and dyno-verified under load, with a focus on usable mid-range torque for towing up to the 3000kg braked rating and loaded work.
  • Boost, fuel and timing managed together so the 2.0 BiTurbo’s twin-charger transition and the 8-speed auto behave smoothly, not jerky.
  • Throttle response, transmission-shift refinement and economy-focused calibration options to suit how you actually drive the ute.

Servicing & Repair

Full diesel mechanical servicing and repair for the LDV T60, with deep experience in the emissions and after-treatment faults these utes are known for.

  • Logbook-style scheduled servicing, fluids, filters and diagnostics for both the 2.8 and 2.0 BiTurbo T60 diesel engines at Oxley and Warana.
  • EGR and intake decarbonising, plus DPF diagnosis, forced regeneration and cleaning for the soot and blockage issues common on short-trip city T60s.
  • Diagnosis of water-in-fuel and fuel-filter warnings, glow-plug faults, turbo and boost-sensor codes, and cracked or split intercooler piping.
  • Automatic transmission cold-shift and calibration concerns, fault-code diagnosis and pre-purchase or pre-tow inspections.

FAQ

LDV T60 diesel FAQs

Is tuning an LDV T60 worth it, and what does it cost?
For most owners, yes. A custom tune sharpens throttle response and builds usable mid-range torque, which makes the T60 far more pleasant towing and loaded. Price depends on your engine variant and whether any supporting work is needed first, so we quote each truck after an inspection. We never quote sight-unseen because the right outcome depends on the condition of your specific T60. Contact either workshop for a quote.
Will tuning my T60 void the LDV warranty?
Modifying the ECU can affect the manufacturer warranty on related driveline components, so it is a genuine consideration on a newer T60 still under LDV’s factory cover. We talk this through honestly before any work, explain exactly what is changed, and keep your original calibration on file so the vehicle can be returned to factory if needed. The decision is always yours to make with full information.
Can you delete or modify the DPF, EGR or AdBlue system?
Tampering with or removing emissions-control equipment on a road-registered vehicle is illegal in Queensland and across Australia, and we do not offer it. What we do offer is proper diagnosis and repair: cleaning and restoring a blocked DPF, decarbonising a sooted-up EGR and intake, and tuning that works correctly with the emissions hardware in place so the systems stay healthy and compliant.
How much power can I expect to gain from a T60 tune?
Gains vary with the engine variant, fuel quality and the truck’s mechanical condition, so we do not publish a fixed figure that may not apply to your vehicle. The real benefit is the shape of the curve: stronger, earlier mid-range torque and cleaner response where you use it. Every result is measured on our dyno so you see your truck’s actual before-and-after, not a generic claim.
Which T60 engines do you work on?
We service and tune both the 2.8-litre SAIC single-turbo diesel (around 130kW/400Nm) found in earlier T60s and the 2.0-litre BiTurbo in the T60 Max (160kW/500Nm) with its eight-speed automatic. Both manual and automatic variants are welcome. If you are unsure which engine your T60 has, give us the build details or VIN and we will confirm it.
How do I book and how long does it take?
Book by phone or online at our Oxley (Brisbane) or Warana (Sunshine Coast) workshop. A standard service is typically a same-day job. A custom tune is usually a full day because it includes data-logging and dyno validation. If diagnosis turns up EGR, DPF or intercooler work, we will confirm timing and scope with you before proceeding.
