LandCruiser 79 Dual Battery Fitted at Warana

Custom Lithium makes two different kits for the 79, and each one only suits its own cab. Both fit facelift and pre-facelift models.

• Dual cab. The battery is an all-in-one unit shaped for the space behind the rear seat, so there is no separate tray. Available in 100Ah, 200Ah and 230Ah. See the dual cab kit.
• Single cab. A full-length tray runs behind the seat with a 100Ah Ultra Slim lithium battery. Custom Lithium says larger sizes are coming. See the single cab kit.

Both kits may need holes drilled and nutserts fitted in the back wall, and the single cab tray is also bolted to the vehicle. Custom Lithium warns that the kits may not work with aftermarket child seat anchor points, so tell us if your 79 has them. Neither kit includes a wiring kit.

Our auto electrician at Warana does the full install. On a 79 that means:

• Seat out and the back wall checked for anchor points and existing wiring
• Drilling and nutserts where the kit calls for them, then the battery (or tray and battery) bolted down
• Cable run from the starter battery to the DC-DC charger, sized for the run
• Fuses at each battery end, the charger mounted, and a monitor or shunt connected if you have one
• Seat refitted and the charging checked at the second battery with the engine running
