Audi Diesel

Audi Q5 TDI & SQ5 Tuning and Diesel Servicing

The Audi Q5 is one of the most capable European diesel SUVs on Australian roads, blending quattro all-wheel drive with the refinement Audi is known for. The diesel range here is built around the 2.0-litre four-cylinder 40 TDI and the formidable SQ5 with its 3.0-litre V6 TDI. Whether you’re chasing crisper throttle response and stronger mid-range pull for towing and touring, or simply want your Q5 maintained properly by people who understand modern common-rail diesels, Willy’s Workshop has you covered at our Oxley (Brisbane) and Warana (Sunshine Coast) locations.

These are sophisticated engines. The 2.0 TDI and 3.0 V6 TDI both run high-pressure common-rail injection, variable-geometry turbocharging, EGR, a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and AdBlue/SCR after-treatment, with mild-hybrid (MHEV) assistance on later builds. That technology delivers excellent economy and emissions performance, but it also means the Q5 rewards correct servicing and informed tuning. Get it wrong and you invite clogged EGR valves, blocked DPFs and AdBlue faults; get it right and the Q5 is a genuinely long-lived, strong-performing SUV.

Every tune we write for the Q5 is custom, developed in-house on our dyno, and tailored to your exact engine, fuel and intended use. We don’t load generic off-the-shelf files. We start from the factory ECU calibration, verify the result on the dyno, and make sure the car drives cleanly and reliably afterwards.

Engines We Tune

Audi Q5 diesel engines we tune

Q5 40 TDI (2.0L TDI quattro)
150 kW / 400 Nm
Mid-range 2.0 TDI four-cylinder with quattro and mild-hybrid assist on later builds; strong, efficient torque that responds well to a careful custom tune.
SQ5 TDI (3.0L V6 TDI quattro)
251 kW / 700 Nm
Performance V6 diesel with big torque; known for intake-valley oil cooler coolant/oil leaks — DPF and AdBlue maintenance still essential.
Tuning & Servicing

Why choose Willy’s for your Audi Q5

Performance Tuning

Custom, in-house ECU tuning for the Q5 40 TDI and SQ5 V6 — developed and verified on our dyno, never a generic off-the-shelf file.

  • Custom ECU calibration written in-house from the factory map for your specific engine — 2.0 TDI (40 TDI) or 3.0 V6 TDI (SQ5) — never a one-size-fits-all generic file
  • Stronger, smoother mid-range torque for real-world towing, touring and overtaking, with throttle response sharpened where the factory tune is deliberately lazy
  • Every result confirmed on our in-house dyno, so the power and torque gains are measured and verified rather than claimed
  • Calibration mindful of the quattro driveline, transmission and DPF/AdBlue after-treatment so the car stays driveable and the emissions hardware keeps functioning as intended

Servicing & Repair

Full diesel mechanical servicing and repair for the Audi Q5 range — from logbook servicing to the carbon, EGR, DPF and AdBlue issues these engines are known for.

  • Logbook and major servicing using correct oils and genuine or OE-equivalent filters, keeping your Q5 maintained to Audi’s schedule
  • EGR valve cleaning and replacement, plus intake de-carbonising — the 2.0 and 3.0 TDI are both prone to soot and carbon build-up, especially on short-trip city driving
  • DPF diagnosis, forced regeneration and cleaning, and AdBlue/SCR system repair including NOx sensors and injector faults
  • V6 TDI specific work including oil cooler and intake-valley coolant/oil leak repair, timing chain inspection, plus full diagnostic scanning across the range

FAQ

Audi Q5 diesel FAQs

How much does Audi Q5 tuning cost, and is it worth it?
Pricing depends on your exact engine (the 2.0 TDI versus the 3.0 V6 in the SQ5) and what you want from the car, so we provide a firm quote once we know your model and goals. Most owners find a custom tune worthwhile because it improves drivability and mid-range torque where the factory calibration is conservative — particularly useful for towing and touring. Because our tunes are dyno-verified, you can see exactly what you’re getting. Get a quote and we’ll talk through realistic outcomes for your Q5.
Will tuning my Q5 void my Audi warranty?
If your Q5 is still within the factory warranty period, any ECU modification can affect warranty cover on related driveline and engine components — that’s a decision only you can make. We’re happy to discuss this openly before you book. Many of our tuning customers are out of factory warranty, or accept the trade-off knowingly. Whatever you decide, we always start from the factory calibration so the tune can be reversed if needed.
What about the DPF, EGR and AdBlue — can you delete them, and is that legal?
Australian law requires emissions-control equipment including the DPF, EGR and AdBlue/SCR system to remain functional on vehicles used on public roads, and removing or defeating them is not permitted for road use. We don’t perform emissions deletes on road-registered cars. What we do is keep these systems working properly — cleaning and repairing EGR valves, diagnosing and regenerating or cleaning blocked DPFs, and fixing AdBlue faults such as failed NOx sensors and injectors — so your Q5 stays compliant and runs as it should.
What performance gains can I expect, and can you diagnose a power loss or warning light?
Gains vary by engine, fuel quality and the condition of your car, so we won’t quote a fixed number sight unseen — every result is measured on our dyno, with the biggest real-world benefit being stronger, smoother mid-range torque. If your Q5 has instead lost power or thrown a warning light, that’s very often a clogged EGR valve, a blocked DPF in limp mode, a turbo or boost fault, or an AdBlue/NOx error — we diagnose all of these with proper Audi-capable scan tools and quote the repair before proceeding.
Which Q5 engines and model years can you work on?
We work across the diesel Q5 range sold in Australia, including the 2.0-litre 40 TDI four-cylinder and the 3.0-litre V6 TDI in the SQ5, covering both earlier models and the later mild-hybrid (MHEV) builds. If you’re unsure which engine and generation you have, send us your VIN or build details and we’ll confirm exactly what’s involved before any work begins.
How do I book, and how long does it take?
You can book at either our Oxley (Brisbane) or Warana (Sunshine Coast) workshop — just get in touch with your model, engine and what you’re after. A logbook service is typically a same-day job. Custom tuning involves dyno time and verification, so we’ll give you a realistic timeframe when you book based on your specific Q5.
