Camshaft Position Sensor – Dodge / Ram 2002 – 2010
Standard Motor Products replacement crankshaft position sensors relay critical information to the ECM, helping it monitor engine RPM, crankshaft position, and detect misfires.
Built with a permanent magnet, yoke, and coil, these sensors are positioned near a tooth gear. As each tooth passes, it generates an AC voltage pulse in the coil. The faster the gear spins, the more pulses are produced.
The ECM reads these pulses to calculate rotational speed, with the pulse count per second representing the signal frequency.
